Energy, enthusiasm, curiosity. Mark Shaw’s compelling approach to business and life drives StoredTech’s growth and development. Shaw founded StoredTech in 2010 to provide a significantly different approach to IT consulting, meeting the strategic business goals of customers as a partner invested in their success. His forward thinking leadership moves at the speed of technology and keeps StoredTech on the front lines of the industry as the company expands its reach to bring best-in-class solutions to market. 

An entrepreneur with innate business acumen, Shaw began his IT career as a consultant at 17 when he started his first company. Armed with degrees in Business Management and Information Systems, he moved on to garner experience and training at every level of company and business. During his tenure leading the New York State IT efforts of Hollingsworth & Vose, a multinational company, he earned his Six Sigma Black Belt and became a Green Belt Trainer. He brought that understanding of efficient business processes to subsequent positions as IT Manager for a Canadian and US-based product offering and Director of Managed Services for a technology firm serving the upstate NY region.

Shaw’s passionate leadership style combines a commitment to innovation, excellence and long-term relationships with both his staff and customers.

Intelligence, process, patience. Alan Van Tassel’s approachable style and wealth of experience managing and directing sales and operations teams show up across every facet of StoredTech’s operations. Van Tassel brings over 35 years of experience at all levels of business, from his own successful IT systems and integration company to positions as both the Director of Service Delivery and Director of Sales at GSS Infotech’s Albany, NY location. There, he developed a structured managed services program and implemented a CRM solution that was rolled out across the global organization. 

Early experiences also included over seven years as a Market Sales Manager with Verizon Wireless and 14 years as a district sales manager in the retail industry

Mr. VanTassel assures that company offerings are in alignment with market demands and that the services sold by StoredTech’s sales team are delivered effectively and profitably.

As the lead for StoredTech’s service delivery team, McNall ensures that when users call-in with questions or concerns, they leave with answers and solutions. She empowers our team of engineers as we remove complications and communicate in plain English, not tech talk. 
She brings over 25 years of management, operations and technical experience with over 12 years specifically in the technology services industry. McNall is a native of Vermont and earned her BSBA from the University of Central Florida. Prior to joining forces with StoredTech McNall owned and operated Your Tech Source, a successful IT services firm in Upstate NY. Early in her career, she established a proven track record in Service and Retail Management in a role as Regional and Operations Manager.

Creative, thorough, dedicated. Doug Gillson’s thoughtful approach and detailed execution build credibility and trust with customers. Since joining the company in early 2016, he quickly put StoredTech’s new Infrastructure Division on the map, bringing a wealth of experience with telephony, cable and wireless, video surveillance and security and access control. Gillson has been immersed in business infrastructure and communications systems for over 30 years, earning his stripes as a design engineer for the National Weather Service, the Manager of Engineering for Executone of Albany, and Vice President of Tech II Business Systems, where he was responsible for operations management and business development. He studied electrical engineering at California State University Long Beach and worked for several years on the west coast before returning to New York’s Capital Region, where he also serves on a Search and Rescue Team as a 1st Lt. for the Airforce Auxiliary.

STOREDTECH HOSTS LIVE UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS DEMONSTRATION
On April 27, 2017, StoredTech invited local IT leaders and business owners into its Collaboration Center for Beers and Gears, an event designed to bring people together and show off the latest IT solutions for communications and collaboration. With a focus on integrating Microsoft Office 365 and Avaya phone systems, it was a ‘dramatic’ evening as the company’s engineers pulled out their acting skills in a live skit. The ‘actors’ showed how cloud-based collaboration tools can help multiple remote individuals work seamlessly together to solve real-life problems for their customers. While based on a fictional scenario at an airport, the functions are shown in the skit – video conferencing, file sharing, multi-way calls, and find me/follow me chat – are usable in common business settings. Many of the features used in the skit are already available to Microsoft Office 365 customers, such as Skype for Business. Adding an Extreme Network and Avaya phone system expanded the capabilities and exponentially increased the communication and collaboration potential. Or, as Alan VanTassel said, “helps customers get more out of their IT investment.”   VanTassel talked about the company’s rationale for hosting Beers and Gears. “At StoredTech, we like to call ourselves your IT Advisor. Because, with new technology coming to market all the time, it can be challenging for business owners or IT leaders to stay competitive and ahead of the curve. With events like this, we can deliver the information you need to make educated decisions for your business.” During the demonstration, Doug Gillson, vice president of infrastructure, talked about what the latest updates to Office 365 and Avaya phones can do for customers. “This is an exciting time for businesses as new, enterprise-quality tools are becoming available in realistic, small business pricing packages. These cloud-based platforms offer impressive flexibility as more and more of you work from home, on the road, or are growing through remote offices. What’s important tonight is to see that increased productivity and team collaboration is already at your fingertips.”  After the live demonstration, guests enjoyed food and drink from Coopers Cave Ale Company as they tried out the programs themselves at various hands-on stations. Interested guests learned about how to apply the tools to their unique business as they engaged with StoredTech’s engineers and vendor partners from Avaya, Extreme Networks, and Plantronics, an audio communications equipment company.
